A poem by Teresinka Pereira

Just the right poem after the nuclear disaster in Japan and the "No" for nuclear-generated power stations expressed by the Italian people last weekend.

NO NUKES!
Is it possible a world without
nuclear plants? It would
avoid a panic in the air,
it would be secure to know
that life may go ahead
in its normal way
in order and peace. It would
be like to hear the bells toll

to bury the dead one by one
instead of by millions at a time.
It would be assuring to know that
each new born human being
would bring us a new hope
for a better world.
TERESINKA PEREIRA
